Have you ever felt like no matter what you do, you’re constantly taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back?
That after multiple attempts you’re not getting any closer towards reaching a goal you have set for yourself?
This feeling is frustrating and disappointing and tends to lead to one of the worst feelings you can have — feeling stuck in your life.
Why? Because you don’t know what’s working and what’s not. It’s almost like you’re paralyzed and can’t move forward.
So HOW do you get out of this funk if you’re in it?
Good question, and I’d like to turn this over to my friend Mary Morrissey, founder of Life Mastery Institute to answer it.
Here’s what she had to say:
Let’s Go Deeper
In the video, Mary made a good point:
If you’re feeling stuck, start with a small action each day that makes you feel good. And focus on the small successes, because over time, those small successes will compound into BIG successes.
Now let’s dive deeper into SPECIFIC steps you can take if you’re feeling stuck right now.
You see, I’ve been there before — feeling “stuck” in life — many years ago, and I had no idea what to do about it.
I badly wanted this one thing: To get rich and do it as quickly as possible, but the harder I tried, the more and more difficult it became. I felt constant pressure and was extremely frustrated with my results.
After months of searching everywhere for answers, I turned to my Zen teacher, Cheri Huber, who told me: “If what you were looking for was where you were looking, chances are you’d have already found it by now.”
Which brought me to realize this:
“Harv, If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’re going to keep getting what you’ve always got.”
I realized that even though I had a big, ambitious goal, I had no strategy. I wasn’t being systematic about it. I wasn’t looking at the actions that I took, and learning from them to see if I could have done them better — or not done them at all.
I was merely repeating my attempts like a broken record, which ultimately led to failure.
So here’s what I learned…
It’s Not Only About The Actions We Take, But How We Make Corrections Based On The Outcome We Get
And once I learned this, my career really started to take off.
Here’s what I did that totally changed the trajectory of my life…
The first step is to take action. Then look at the result of that action and evaluate what happened – both positive and negative.
If it went well, do it again. But if it didn’t go well, learn from it and make a correction for the next time.
Then repeat the process again. It looks like this:
- Take action
- Evaluate/Get feedback
- If it went well, go direct to step 5 and if it didn’t go well, move to step 4
- Make the necessary corrections
- Repeat the process
It’s as simple as that.
As long as you continue this cycle and NEVER GIVE UP, in the long run, it is it virtually impossible to fail.
So give this process a shot for yourself and let me know in the comments section below how it works for you!

For Your Freedom,
I LOVE that process. I am definitely going to start. Because I feel stuck and as Mary said I am going to start with a small action.
Thanks Harv i am just at that point in my life and need direction for starting my business thank you for imparting your knowledge to allow others to grow .
Doesn’t seem to work for me. I do my best every day but even days in which i moved forward bring no change in the long run. The hamster wheel goes on and on…
Really its wonderful. I’m gonna start!
Thank you Harv
I actually did the DreamBuilder with Mary Morrissey and I m quickly moving toward my dream life!
Rosanna :-))
Insightful. I will follow the five steps in all my business adventure. It sounds very practical and can easily be practiced
already doing it however obstacle course continues to become more difficult-too steep a gradient.
I have tried this process many, many times … it has never worked for me. In fact, nothing seems to work and I’m tired of trying to find out why not!
Lovely, Ready to go now. Thanks Harv.
